What's Open ANZAC Day 2026
ANZAC Day is a public holiday* that falls on Saturday 25th April 2026.
Under Victorian law, ANZAC Day is a Restricted trading day, business may open after 1pm. (close between 12:01am and 1:00pm)
Exempt: (allowed to open) chemists, petrol stations, restaurants, cafes and takeaway outlets.
After 1pm, ANZAC day trades (open) like any other Saturday.. shopping centres and strips, supermarkets, restaurants and cafes, museums, tourist attractions, conveniences stores, cinema, parks and gardens.

Banks & Post Office are not open.
Any amendments to public holidays in Victoria require legislative change, as they are governed by the Public Holidays Act 1993.
* Victorians will not be given a public holiday (Monday) to commemorate Anzac Day in 2026, despite governments around the country introducing a substitute holiday (Monday) for our "most important national day'. Jacinta Allan** and her Labour Government said there were “no current plans to amend Victoria’s existing public holiday arrangements”, but said the government was “always open to community feedback”.
** Premier Jacinta Allan is clearly rattled. You can see it in her eyes, hear it in her voice and smell it in her strategy as she blusters and bumbles through issue after issue.
