Christmas Night Market Returns to Melbourne for Four Festive Wednesdays

The 2027 market is scheduled to run every Wednesday night from 25 November to 16 December, with four nights of Christmas shopping, food and summer drinks.[/intro]

Christmas Night Market returns to Melbourne

The Christmas Night Market will bring festive after-dark trading back to Queen Victoria Market, with the event running from 5pm to 11pm each Wednesday across its four-week season.

Previous editions have transformed String Bean Alley into an open-air Christmas market, combining locally made gifts and festive trinkets with street food served by food trucks and carts.

Visitors can wander the market with family or friends, shop for Christmas presents and settle in for food and drinks as evening falls over the precinct. The Brick Lane Bar has previously added refreshing summer drinks to the mix.

The event has also featured distinctly festive touches including Christmas carollers, artificial snow and a giant gingerbread man photo opportunity, with Santa making appearances during the season.

Part of Melbourne's festive season

The Christmas Night Market has formed part of Melbourne's wider Christmas celebrations, giving the traditional daytime market experience an after-dark seasonal twist.

Rather than focusing solely on shopping, the format brings together independent and specialty retail with casual dining and entertainment. Its Wednesday evening schedule also makes it an option for a midweek catch-up in the lead-up to Christmas.

Details of the full 2027 trader line-up, entertainment program and individual food vendors have not yet been announced.

Queen Victoria Market is currently recruiting food, drink and specialty retail traders for the 2027 Christmas Night Market.

Applications close on 3 September 2027. The market will then operate every Wednesday from 25 November to 16 December, from 5pm until 11pm.
