Melbourne has a long tradition with Theatre Restaurants.
Along with its theatre roots, Melburnians have always loved theatre and coupling that with its other great love, food is a give.
Some of Melbourne's best known theatre restaurants have come and gone (see below), but Melbourne still has its share of really good venues worth a night out.
What is a Theatre Restaurant
For the newbies who are not quite sure what a Theatre Restaurant is: it is a dinner and show. The dinner and drinks are served during the show often by the performers in the show.
A venue that entertains it's guests throughout the meal. In the past the food was group fare, edible but basic at best. Today the food is excellent, 3 courses plus drinks as one would expect, the service spot on and the shows (wow).
Guests arrive at a preset time, are welcomed and escorted to their table. Dinner and shows are best enjoyed with a group of 4 or more family and friends.
