The Night Cat is a unique large and open space, distinctly decorated and uniquely lit in authentic Fitzroy style.
It is undoubtedly the original, a much loved icon and appreciated institution that has been successfully entertaining crowds with live music for many years.
The Night Cat live music styles are diverse, ranging from Funk to Hip Hop to World music but bottom line its all about DANCE! The Night Cat stage is situated in the centre of the venue affording the audience a 360 degree view of the bands.
On Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays we draw the curtin across our large room and The Night Cat transforms into our new weeknight initiative called
THE ALLEY CAT.

Opening its doors in 1994, The Night Cat is one of Fitzroy's longest-running music venues and a Melbourne cultural institution. Renowned for its deep roots in jazz, funk, R&B, soul, and world music, the venue is a home for both musical exploration and community.
