MKA: Theatre of New Writing MKA: Theatre of New Writing

MKA: Theatre of New Writing in association with Theatre Works.

MKA is founded with the wish of specifically attending to the needs of a blossoming new playwrights' community.

Founded in 2010, MKA: Theatre of New Writing is Australia's premiere international new writing theatre company with a particular interest in Australian and South East Asian works.

A champion for new performance writers, the company opens its doors not just to playwrights and poets, but designers, choreographers, composers, installation artists, film editors, even people with no theatre connection or experience whatsoever.

The more urgent, bold or wrong the script, the better. MKA make it happen. An increasing number of the creatives who have worked with the company in its short history have become established names in the industry and, alongside relationships with larger organisations and festivals have contributed to MKA's position of standing and acclaim.

If you're a playwright with a script or an idea that you want to make into a script; if it's bold; if it's urgent; maybe even a little wrong, then it can happen at an MKA theatre.

We are always seeking exciting and challenging scripts, shows and concepts.

Maybe you're not a writer.Perhaps you're a designer, director, choreographer, composer, installation artist, carpenter, film editor..Maybe you've no experience in the theatre at all.

If you want to make brave theatre then we're ready to talk.
