Travel in Melbourne's Central Business District & Docklands is FREE on all* trams
CBD: Free Tram Zone Boundaries
The zone includes ALL trams within the boundaries of Spring Street, Flinders Street and La Trobe Street. Additionally, the tram routes along Victoria Street, William Street and Elizabeth Street as well as the Docklands area.
All stops within the free zone are clearly marked and tram drivers will make regular announcements when approaching the zone boundaries.

If your tram journey is exclusively within the zone, travel is free, meaning you do not need to touch on with a myki. Do not touch on or you will be charged a Zone 1 two hour fare. Call 1800 800 007 PTV call centre for more information.
If your journey begins or ends outside of the zone you must touch on with a valid myki when boarding the tram.
Visitors & Tourists
Do not need to purchase a MYKI card unless they intend travelling out of the CBD or Docklands to places like the MCG, Arts Centre, Shrine, Royal Botanic Gardens, Zoo, Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne Museum or Melbourne Park (Rod Laver Arena, Hisense Arena, Olympic Park).

A great way to see Melbourne is on the 'free' City Circle Tram.
