Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit comes alive in 2.25 square kilometres of parkland that includes Albert Park Lake, parks, sporting grounds, sports facilities, golf course, walking track and aquatic centre.

Throughout the GRAND PRIX, regular access to Albert Park Reserve may be affected due to the installation and dismantling of infrastructure.

ROAD CLOSURES: LAKESIDE DRIVE CLOSED TO PUBLIC

Public access will be restricted in *some* areas of the park :

Monday 23 February (12:01 am) - Monday 2 March (11:59 pm), and
Tuesday 10 March (12:01 am) - Sunday 15 March (11:59 pm)

Full park restrictions are in place. Access is not permitted without accreditation.
The Race Period runs from Tuesday 3 March (12:01 am) - Monday 9 March (11:59 pm)

Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) remains open throughout the Grand Prix Race Period.

Restricted access locations


See the map showing the areas that will have restricted access during the Extended Race Period, while aiming to maintain access to as many venues, fields, and ovals as possible.

Locations with a blue perimeter shows venues, fields and ovals that will maintain public access during the new Extended Race Period. The red perimeter shows the traditional Race Period where full park restrictions are in place.

During the Extended Race Period, public pedestrian only access will be maintained for the following venues and ovals:

Southern fields and ovals
Ross Gregory Oval, Oval 1 & Oval 2
Fields 3, 3.5, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8
Schools
Melbourne Golf Park
Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre
Lakeside Stadium
Aquatic Drive, Swan Picnic area and Palm Lawn
Middle Park Bowls Club
Carmelite Tennis Club
The Australian Grand Prix Corporation is currently working with relevant Albert Park tenants to facilitate access to these public access areas during the extended race period.

The lake path will be closed during both periods. Access to the lake will be limited to existing sporting clubs.

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO PUBLIC PARKING AVAILABLE AT THE CIRCUIT.

How to get to the Grand Prix


Public Transport is the best way to get to and from the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit.

Tram Services
There will be 5,000 extra tram services to get you to the track with high frequency shuttle services run to the Grand Prix between Flinders Street Station, Southern Cross Station, Flagstaff Station and Albert Park.

Tram shuttles will run as often as 1 - 2 minutes during peak times and 3 - 10 minutes outside of peak times from 5am to 10pm and are free with your Grand Prix ticket between the CBD and Albert Park during event days.

Trams will run from:

Southern Cross Station to Gates 1 and 2
Flagstaff Station to Gate 3
Flinders Street Station/Melbourne Central to Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10

Thursday, 5 March to Sunday, 8 March

Gates 1 and 2

Extra trams run express between Southern Cross Station and Gates 1 and 2
Passengers can also connect with Route 96 replacement buses between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Luna Park via Gate 1, 2 and 3

Gate 3

Trams run between Flagstaff Station and Gate 3
Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10

Grand Prix trams run between Melbourne Central Station via Swanston Street or between Flinders Street Station via St Kilda Road, stopping at Gates 5, 8, 9 & 10.

Bus Services
Friday, 6 March to Sunday, 8 March

7.30am to 11.30am and 4pm to 8pm each day. Grand Prix Shuttle bus between Whiteman Street, near the Casino via Grand Prix Gates 3, 2 and 1.
4pm to 8pm each day (towards the city only). Grand Prix Shuttle bus from Grand Prix Gates 3, 2 and 1 to Whiteman Street, near the Casino.
